If I have an active UbiCar Insurance policy prior to 15 October 2020 am I still covered?

Your policy remains active until the expiry date on your current Certificate of Insurance. RAC’s decision to no longer underwrite these products will not impact on any current or future claims for your current period of insurance.

When will my policy expire?

Your policy will expire at your upcoming renewal date. You will find this date on your policy schedule.

Can I still be insured with UbiCar Insurance after my current policy expires?

No, your policy will cease at your upcoming renewal date.

Can I add additional vehicles to my existing policy?

After 15 October 2020, RAC Insurance will be unable to make any changes to your policy. This means that you will not be able to add any new vehicles after this date. If you sell a motor vehicle and replace it with a similar vehicle during the period of insurance, you will need to cancel your existing policy and source an alternate insurance provider for your new vehicle.

I have new Registration plates on my vehicle, can I change these on my policy?

After 15 October 2020, RAC Insurance will be unable to make any changes to your policy. This means that you will not be able to change the vehicle registration information after this date. I have moved address, does this affect my policy?

After 15 October 2020, RAC Insurance will be unable to make any changes to your policy. This means that you will not be able to change the address details on your policy. I am unable to change the listed drivers on the policy. Does the open driver cover provide sufficient cover for my situation?

Your policy can be cancelled at any time, with immediate effect. Normal cancellation rules apply as per ‘Cancelling Your Policy’ section of the relevant PDS.

Why is RAC contacting me instead of UbiCar?

As the underwriter of your UbiCar Insurance policy, RAC Insurance will be managing your policy until the expiry on your current Certificate of Insurance.

Will I be receiving any documents from RAC to confirm that I am indeed covered?

You will not receive any RAC documentation regarding your cover. Your current UbiCar policy certificate is evidence of your cover.

Can I insure my vehicle with RAC upon renewal?

RAC is a Western Australian company providing insurance to Western Australians. RAC is unable to provide service outside of WA. If you are a resident of Western Australia, then you can obtain a quote by visiting rac.com.au. Can I get a new policy with RAC insurance?

RAC is a Western Australian company providing insurance to Western Australians. RAC is unable to provide service outside of WA. UbiCar App Answers

The UbiCar App is no longer working. Am I still covered?

Your insurance remains in place as long as your policy is paid up to date. The unconnected app excess will no longer be applied in the event of a claim.

What does the withdrawal of UbiCar Insurance mean if I have a claim in progress?

Your claim will continue to be considered and will follow the same process that was applicable prior to the announcement to withdraw these products. For any updates on your current claim, please call 1300 824 227 with your claim number.

Pay How You Drive Answers

The UbiCar App is no longer working. How do you score my driving and how does my premium get calculated?

Given the UbiCar App is no longer working, a driver score will no longer be calculated. As a result, RAC has defaulted your premium to the minimum amount in the Premium Range.

Pay Per Kilometre Answers

I have a pay per kilometre policy – what do I do with the UbiCar Device?

RAC has defaulted your insurance premium to the base premium as indicated on your policy schedule. The UbiCar device is therefore no longer required to record the kilometres travelled. If you have a current insurance policy, this remains valid as long as it is paid up to date. You may dispose of it safely.

I haven’t received my UbiCar device yet, will you still be sending it out to me?

RAC has defaulted your insurance premium to the base premium as indicated on your policy schedule. The UbiCar device is therefore no longer required to record the kilometres travelled. Consequently, you will no longer receive one in the mail.

How will you charge my premium, because my policy is based on how many kilometres I travel each month?

RAC has defaulted your insurance premium to the base premium as indicated on your policy schedule.

I have paid the tech fee upfront am I getting a refund now as there is no technology involved?

If you decide to cancel your policy and paid the tech fee upfront, a manual refund will be arranged.
