*Savings are factual and based on comparison between the customer’s current Comprehensive Car Insurance policy with UbiCar as of December 2018 and their policy with their previous insurer. Premiums and savings may differ depending on individual circumstance.
At the end of the month, UbiCar notifies you with the kilometres you have driven and adds that to the monthly fee. The less you drive, the less you pay. What’s fairer than that?
No need to worry if you go on a road trip as we cap the daily costs to 100km per day over a billing period.
UbiCar uses technology to make insurance fairer. When you sign up for Pay per kilometre insurance, we will send you an UbiCar Device. This plugs directly into your car and connects to your mobile phone via our App. This allows us to measure the number of kilometres you drive. It’s as simple as that!
Pay per kilometre is Comprehensive Car Insurance, so you get great coverage with this policy*.
Your premium will vary monthly depending on how many kilometres you drive. We consider other factors as well when calculating your base premium and rate per km. This includes things such as your car’s agreed value, the make and model of your car and where you keep your car overnight. The base rate covers your car whilst you are not driving.
UbiCar is not for everyone. You may find you can get cheaper insurance elsewhere, and we’d encourage you to find the best price together with features and benefits for your car insurance.
You simply pay insurance for the number of kilometres you drive each month plus a low base premium for when your car is not being used.
At the end of the month we multiply the kilometres driven for that month by the rate per km. We add that to your monthly base premium and that’s the total you pay. No need to worry if you’re going on a trip, we cap the daily km charge at 100km so that you can rest assured your costs stay affordable.
This policy is for low kilometre drivers, who don’t use their car everyday.
You may be a commuter, uni student, empty nester, retiree, weekend driver or a remote worker. If you drive less than 15,000km a year, Pay per km insurance may be right for you.
*Any advice provided by UbiCar Insurance is general advice only and you should consider if it suits your needs.
In order to measure your kilometres, you need to connect the UbiCar Device to your car and
sync it to the UbiCar App. The UbiCar Device transmits the kilometres travelled to your
phone via Bluetooth. The UbCar App collects this information and enables us to bill you each
month. At times we may also ask for an odometer reading to measure kilometres travelled.
We believe in fair priced insurance for everyone and are using technology to deliver lower cost car insurance.

There is no need to worry if you do more kilometres than you estimated when you purchased your policy. Regardless of how many kilometres your drive, your car is covered under the policy. You will simply be charged the rate per kilometre we quoted when you purchased the policy. Kilometres are also capped at 100km per day over a billing period.
At the end of the first month, we charge you the Base Premium, the rate per kilometre multiplied by one-twelfth of kilometres you estimated when you bought the policy (Estimated Usage premium) and one-twelfth of the Tech Cost (if you opted to pay in instalments).
No. We don’t not offer Pay per kilometre to rideshare drivers. We do however offer How you drive coverage if you are a rideshare driver.

If you have a nominated driver (a person named on the Certificate of Insurance) on your policy, they will need to download and sync the UbiCar App. If a person other than a nominated driver drives your car, they do not need to download the App. When you next drive your car, the kilometres travelled by the other person will be recorded.
UbiCar charges a Tech Cost each time you buy or renew a Policy. This is not part of the premium and relates to administration and other services provided by UbiCar in connection with the UbiCar Device and UbiCar App. If you choose to pay the Tech Cost upfront at time of purchase or renewal the total charge is $80 plus GST (total including GST $88). If not, it is $95 excluding GST (total including GST $104.50) which will be charged in each of the monthly instalments.

We are proud to launch the very first Pay Per KM insurance product in Australia. Whilst not a new concept overseas, UbiCar is proud to be the ones to bring this to Australian consumers!
This product was launched by our expert digital product team in April 2020. The concept was driven by our former CEO, Mr. Keith Lambert, who sadly passed away in December 2019, but the product was left in the very talented hands of Mr. Kevin Cunneen. Kevo is our resident Tech Guru at UbiCar! Now that PPK is launched, this is only the start for him and the UbiCar team as he has BIG plans ahead. He is busy working with our Research and Development teams to bring you additional features that will save you even more money whilst also keeping you safe on the road.
Meanwhile, Mr. Joel Ilacqua and the rest of the customer service team will be at hand should you require any assistance and need that human touch. Even though we are a tech company, we understand the need to speak to real humans too. We are always only a phone call away from our customers!
The UbiCar family continues to grow as our customer base grows. We look forward to welcoming new team members on a regular basis. Whether you think you would be better fitted with Kevo in IT or Joel in customer service, we want to hear from you!
