The UbiCar app is free to use, and tracks your driving using telematics, so we can give you a driver score. UbiCar safe drivers can make substantial savings on their car insurance premiums based on their driver score. We are 100% Australian Company, and proud of it!

UbiCar is backed by RAC Insurance who has been the trusted insurer of West Australians for over 70 years. Company details are: UbiCar Insurance Pty Ltd (ABN 83 601 223 858; AFSL 469073) policies are underwritten by RAC Insurance Pty Limited (ABN 59 094 685 882; AFSL 231222).
If you drive well, you are less likely have an accident, so it makes sense that you should pay less for your insurance – that’s fair and that’s what UbiCar aims to deliver. We’re making sure that premiums for car insurance are fair one policy at a time.
We believe in fair priced insurance for everyone and are using technology to deliver lower cost car insurance.
The UbiCar app tracks your driving (think braking, cornering, phone distraction, acceleration and speeding) and uses that information to give you a driver score and calculate your premium. The better driver you are, the better your premium will be. The UbiCar App is free in the app stores.
Your driving score reflects how safe a driver you are, ranging from 40 to 100. The higher the score, the safer the driver! The primary elements of driving behaviour that go into these calculations are your speed, harsh braking and acceleration, cornering, and mobile phone distraction. Your driving behaviour is monitored across a variety of trips to give you an average score. You can monitor your scores through your free UbiCar App.
You simply pay insurance for the number of kilometres you drive each month plus a low base premium for when your car is not being used.
At the end of the month we multiply the kilometres driven for that month by the rate per km. We add that to your monthly base premium and that’s the total you pay. No need to worry if you’re going on a road trip, we cap the daily km charge at 100km so you can rest assured your costs stay affordable.
Your premium will vary monthly depending on how many kilometres you drive. We consider other factors as well when calculating your base premium and rate per km. This includes things such as your car’s agreed value, the make and model of your car and where you keep your car overnight. The base rate covers your car whilst you are not driving.
When you sign up for a Pay per km policy you are sent an UbiCar Device which takes a reading of your odometer. We use that number of kilometres to calculate your premium each month and whenever you change or cancel your policy.
UbiCar is not for everyone. You may find you can get cheaper insurance elsewhere, and we’d encourage you to find the best price together with features and benefits for your car insurance.

Cheap Car Insurance VIC
We have developed a new and innovative way of offering our customers cheap car insurance Victoria using high-tech solutions and tailored insurance policies which don’t reflect all the drivers on the road in Australia, but instead reflect your driving while you’re on the road.
We offer cheap car insurance Victoria to all kinds of drivers from learner drivers and young drivers under 21 and under 25 through to Uber drivers and other rideshare professionals. We develop a personalised policy that is reliant not on the accident data from all over the state or in the centre of Melbourne, but instead the data we capture from you in real-time every time you drive your car. Using our app, we can capture how you drive, when you drive and how often you drive, developing your premium to suit your needs and your caution on the road.
The type of cheap car insurance Victoria that we offer you include: comprehensive car insurance, rideshare insurance and third party fire and theft insurance. Are you new to the world of car insurance or are you not sure which level of coverage is best for you and your vehicle? We’ll take you through the type of insurance options open to you and how to make the best of your car insurance policy to ensure that you’re getting the cheapest car insurance Melbourne we can offer you.
Comprehensive cover is not the cheapest option but it’s often the best option if you have a newer model car like a Tesla and absolutely mandatory if you have a car loan or other personal loan secured to the value of your car. This level of cover protects you financially from the cost of accidental damage that you might cause to your own vehicle backing into a pole or another person’s vehicle, and it protects you when someone else causes damage to your own vehicle, as well as covering you for damage sustained from weather events like hail damage.
If you need to claim on your insurance policy to cover the cost of repairs or replacements, then you will have to pay the excess on your insurance policy. The excess amount can vary between providers and depending on the type of insurance you have chosen. For example, insurance companies have developed ways to help minimise the cost of annual premiums and make them more affordable by increasing the excess and then making up the difference in annual premium costs. You can, conversely, decrease the cost of your excess by choosing to pay a higher annual premium. This is particularly useful for younger drivers who will already have a substantially higher annual premium they must pay given the high risk of their demographic.
Third party fire and theft is a kind of insurance policy that offers some of the protection you get from a comprehensive policy with the exception of covering the damage that you cause to your own vehicle. This type of coverage is restricted only to property you accidentally damage and which does not belong to you. It can offer you a cheap car insurance Victoria for people with older cars or less valuable vehicles. The cost to comprehensively insure your car can actually work out as higher than the actual market value of the vehicle itself and with a fire and theft policy, your protected in the event that your car is stolen with the market value paid out to you to help you manage the cost of a replacement. If this does happen then you will need to pay the excess amount but often the insurance provider will calculate your insurance payout minus the value of you excess so you’re not out of pocket beforehand.
Insurance policies on the whole are offered to individuals based on the use of fairly old and standard risk assessments. These assessments use modelled historical claims data to accurately predict the risk of an insurance company having to pay out for any given policy, and that prediction will ultimately inform the cost of your police. These data models use the claim history for particular areas in Victoria, with Melbourne presenting a higher risk than other rural locations based entirely upon the fact that there are more people on the roads in Melbourne and therefore more chances of an accident amongst motorists occurring. It also uses claims data which help to predict how likely a certain age group or gender is to make an insurance claim versus other demographics. We use the same processes at Ubicar but we also use another more personalised and high-tech process which you can actually affect just by driving your vehicle like you normally would.
Cheap car insurance Victoria is offered by Ubicar based on the standard risk profiles other providers use and based on captured driving data taken in real-time through an app on your smartphone. We use this data to continue assessing your premium price after you have taken out an insurance policy with us. What does this mean? Well, for safe drivers, we get to see just how safe you really are and we get to reward you with a higher safety rating which means lower annual premiums the more data we receive. This also means that you’re not paying insurance premiums set by other, less cautious drivers than yourself. The price of your insurance is not dependent upon the conduct of other drivers who share your post code but is instead driven by your own abilities, experience and caution on the road. It’s about fairness and equity and rewarding the people who are trying to remain safe, who aren’t taking chances but still have to pay the same premiums of less cautious and more unsafe drivers on the road.
We’re using your own driving capabilities and caution to help us deliver a fair premium that is individualised and personalised to you, creating more sustainable ways of offering cheap car insurance Victoria to the people who really, actually, deserve it. And we’re available all around Australia – WA, SA, ACT, QLD – with policies for comprehensive insurance, rideshare insurance and CTP insurance for drivers in NSW.
Choosing Ubicar takes about 2 minutes of your time to set up entirely online. We also don’t charge you fees if you choose to pay your premium by the month rather than on one lump sum.
