Usage based insurance is personalised car insurance based on your driving style and how your car is driven. UbiCar Insurance uses telematics to measure your driving and reward safe driving with lower premiums.

UbiCar is here to disrupt the Australian insurance industry by giving drivers a fairer premium based on HOW they drive, not simply based on their demographics. The UbiCar app is free to use, and tracks your driving using telematics, so we can give you a driver score. UbiCar safe drivers can make substantial savings on their car insurance premiums based on their driver score. We are 100% Australian Company, and proud of it!

UbiCar Insurance was founded to use technology to take the guess work out of insurance, and provide Australian drivers with substantial savings on their insurance. UbiCar is backed by RAC Insurance who has been the trusted insurer of West Australians for over 70 years. Company details are: UbiCar Insurance Pty Ltd (ABN 83 601 223 858; AFSL 469073) policies are underwritten by RAC Insurance Pty Limited (ABN 59 094 685 882; AFSL 231222).

If you drive well, you are less likely have an accident, so it makes sense that you should pay less for your insurance – that’s fair and that’s what UbiCar aims to deliver. We’re making sure that premiums for car insurance are fair one policy at a time.

We believe in fair priced insurance for everyone and are using technology to deliver lower cost car insurance.

The UbiCar app tracks your driving (think braking, cornering, phone distraction, acceleration and speeding) and uses that information to give you a driver score and calculate your premium. The better driver you are, the better your premium will be. The UbiCar App is free in the app stores.

Your driving score reflects how safe a driver you are, ranging from 40 to 100. The higher the score, the safer the driver! The primary elements of driving behaviour that go into these calculations are your speed, harsh braking and acceleration, cornering, and mobile phone distraction. Your driving behaviour is monitored across a variety of trips to give you an average score. You can monitor your scores through your free UbiCar App.

You simply pay insurance for the number of kilometres you drive each month plus a low base premium for when your car is not being used.

At the end of the month we multiply the kilometres driven for that month by the rate per km. We add that to your monthly base premium and that’s the total you pay. No need to worry if you’re going on a road trip, we cap the daily km charge at 100km so you can rest assured your costs stay affordable.

Your premium will vary monthly depending on how many kilometres you drive. We consider other factors as well when calculating your base premium and rate per km. This includes things such as your car’s agreed value, the make and model of your car and where you keep your car overnight. The base rate covers your car whilst you are not driving.

When you sign up for a Pay per km policy you are sent an UbiCar Device which takes a reading of your odometer. We use that number of kilometres to calculate your premium each month and whenever you change or cancel your policy.

UbiCar is not for everyone. You may find you can get cheaper insurance elsewhere, and we’d encourage you to find the best price together with features and benefits for your car insurance.

Cheap Car Insurance SA

Finding the best insurance coverage in South Australia for your vehicle isn’t always easy. If you’re looking for cheap car insurance SA, then there are a few things that it pays to consider while you’re shopping around. Car insurance is one of those costs that can’t be avoided for most people, but just because you need to insure your car doesn’t mean you can’t get great value policies which protects you while you’re driving and while your vehicle is parked. It has never been a better time to reassess your insurance costs than right now. You can collect and compare your insurance quotes online and most quotes you receive will be good for at least 28 days so you can take your time considering the best option that works for you.

Traditional insurance providers have been assessing the potential risks their customers pose while on the road using a system based on statistics and general driving history that is usually gathered by region, for example Whyalla versus Mount Gambier. These statistics are measured using a driver’s age along with the geographical area in which they are driving the most. So the  insurance costs for a middle-aged driver in Gawler may be very different to someone with their learner driver licence or someone who has just got their driver’s licence in the inner-city suburbs. So, more often than not this will mean that if you’re a driver in Adelaide,  you will pay a higher premium to insure your car than drivers in surrounding rural areas, regardless of the fact that you may be the safer driver on the road, or that you may do considerably less kilometres of driving every year.

When searching for cheap car insurance Adelaide, ensure that you’re choosing vehicle insurance offered by a provider who uses your actual driving data rather than assumes what kind of driver you. UbiCar, for example, uses state-of-the-art technology and a driving app which accurately measures what kind of driver you really are while you’re behind the wheel. Your comprehensive car insurance premium is then assessed using real data and history of your driving.

Similarly, young drivers under 21 and under 25 get stung the hardest when it comes to comprehensive cover and CTP insurance. These are the age groups who are most likely to find themselves in an accident while on the road owing to a lack of driving experience and risk-taking behaviours that most older drivers don’t exhibit. Insurance providers will check the accident history of drivers in a particular area or a certain age and gender and then assess the risk that a new policy poses them based on that data and not the actual driving history of the driver. If you are a younger driver or you share your vehicle with a younger driver then consider comparing insurance quotes from a range of providers rather than simply sticking with your current provider this year. The best type of insurance is the level of cover that is most relevant and thorough for your needs and purposes. Find some extra wriggle room in your budget but shifting your coverage to a provider who actively rewards good drivers and doesn’t offer you generic premiums based on where you live or how old you are.

We offer drivers of all ages the opportunity to pay for the actual insurance that they need. By using our safe driver app and by only paying for the kilometres you actually travel in your vehicle, you can join thousands of drivers throughout Victoria, ACT, NT, WA, TAS, QLD, NSW and SA and start really saving on your insurance costs.  If you know that you’re a good driver and you have plenty of years’ worth of proof to attest to your skill and your care on the road, then why not switch to the insurance provider who is really going to reward you for that? By actively promoting safe and responsible driving on the road, we’re not only offering you the best price on your car insurance but helping you to remain mindful every time that you’re in the car. Teach your young learner driver the best habits right from the start and insure them with UbiCar.

If you’re a professional driver, then getting cheap car insurance SA and reliable roadside assistance is an absolute must. As a driver for a rideshare business like Uber, you spend a lot of time in your car as it’s the source of your livelihood. You will have a lot of driving experience but because you’re on the road so much, your chances of having an accident or sustaining accidental damage to your car is higher no matter how good a driver you are. By choosing an insurance provider who actively monitors your driving history, you are more likely to source affordable insurance than by choosing a less active provider who only assesses your premium and your excess amount based on other drivers of a similar age, occupation and location.

Don’t find yourself choosing to auto-renew your car insurance this year. Instead, take a thorough look at your provider’s competitors to source cheap car insurance SA from providers who actually insure a driver rather than just a likely statistic.
